Arbitrary file read via loadFile path traversal
Published Feb 23, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Path traversal in SmartClient 12.0 developer-console loadFile RPC allows remote attackers to read arbitrary server files. The handler uses the elem value from the _transaction XML parameter as a filesystem path without restricting directory-traversal sequences. Reachability depends on deployment controls: the reporter found the path unauthenticated, while Isomorphic states that deployed tools are administrator-only.
