Published Feb 22, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in CandidATS 2.1.0 allows remote attackers to add an administrator account through the addUser endpoint. The settings addUser action accepts a cross-origin POST carrying an attacker-chosen username, password, role ID 2, and access level 500 without verifying request intent. Exploitation requires an authenticated administrator's browser to submit the crafted form, after which the new account receives administrative access.
