Phishing content injection via unrestricted image URL

Published May 10, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Image injection in Oracle iPlanet Web Server 7.0.x allows remote authenticated users to display external images in the administration console. The Version and Masthead.jsp endpoints accept productNameSrc as the masthead image source without checking whether its URL points to a trusted image. Exploitation requires administrative access and a victim to follow a crafted admingui link; the displayed content can support phishing but does not execute injected script.
