Privilege escalation via unenforced module directory restriction
Published Jan 13, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Privilege escalation in Huawei SMC2.0 allows local users with module access to elevate privileges by supplying a crafted file. An affected module stores files in an improper location and fails to enforce its directory restriction when processing that file. Exploitation requires high-privilege access to the module; successful escalation permits data exposure or alteration and service interruption.
