CVE-2020-9059

Fail-open battery exhaustion via unbounded S0 processing

Published Jan 7, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Resource exhaustion in Schlage Connect BE468 3.42 allows physically proximate attackers to drain its battery through Z-Wave S0 traffic. Attacker-injected Z-Wave packets cause the 500-series chipset's S0 processing to consume power without an effective resource limit; public sources do not identify a specific frame type or handler. An attacker must be within Z-Wave radio range, and depletion leaves the tested lock open, directly affecting door security.
