CVE-2020-9058

Traffic interception and device control via replay

Published Jan 7, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Missing encryption in Dome DM501 4.26 and Jasco ZW4201 4.05 allows physically proximate attackers to intercept and replay Z-Wave traffic. CRC-16 encapsulation adds only a payload checksum, without confidentiality, sender authentication, or a freshness check, so devices accept captured frames again. Access requires Z-Wave radio proximity and suitable equipment; replayed commands can impersonate devices, alter reported state, or control connected equipment.
