CVE-2020-9042Network attack vector

Unauthorized cluster actions via cached REST credentials

Published Jun 8, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

CSRF in Couchbase Server 6.0.0 allows remote attackers to issue unauthorized cluster requests through an administrator's browser. The REST API returns WWW-Authenticate to unauthenticated requests, causing browsers to cache administrator credentials that malicious cross-origin requests reuse. Exploitation requires prior REST API authentication in the same browser and interaction with attacker-controlled content; Couchbase does not specify which cluster operations are exposed.
