Root access via hard-coded weak credentials
Published Feb 17, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Improper authentication in Iteris Vantage Velocity Field Unit 2.3.1 and 2.4.2 allows remote attackers to gain root access. The firmware provisions undocumented bluetooth and eclipse accounts with passwords identical to their usernames, and reuses bluetooth as the root password. Network access to a login service is sufficient to authenticate with the published credentials and obtain privileged control of the field unit.
