Authenticated root command execution via unchecked POST
Published Apr 14, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Authorization bypass in Wowza Streaming Engine Manager 4.8.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The edit_adv.htm handler accepts privileged server-setup POST requests from read-only sessions, allowing JMX to be enabled without authentication. A read-only account is required; after a service restart, the exposed JMX endpoint permits root-level operating-system command execution.
