CVE-2020-8876

Kernel memory disclosure via unchecked IOCTL input

Published Mar 23, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Out-of-bounds read in the IOCTL handler in Parallels Desktop 15.1.2-47123 allows local users to disclose host kernel memory. The handler accepts user-supplied data without validating its bounds, causing a read beyond an allocated buffer in the host kernel module. Exploitation requires low-privileged local code execution; the direct consequence is kernel-memory disclosure, which can assist a separate kernel-code-execution chain.
