Unauthenticated router takeover via PrivateLogin key substitution

Authentication bypass in D-Link DIR-867, DIR-878, and DIR-882 firmware allows network-adjacent attackers to take over the router. The HNAP Login handler accepts a PrivateLogin value of Username, copies the supplied username into the password variable, and derives the PrivateKey from that known value instead of the stored administrator password. An unauthenticated LAN-side attacker can answer the resulting challenge, reset the administrator password, gain router privileges, and execute code in the router context.
