CVE-2020-8861

Unauthenticated code execution via HNAP cookie handling

Published Feb 22, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Authentication bypass in D-Link DAP-1330 firmware 1.10B01 Beta and earlier allows network-adjacent attackers to reset the admin password. The HNAP login algorithm fails to handle request cookies correctly, allowing authentication checks to be bypassed. The device must be reachable from its connected LAN; successful exploitation grants administrative control and enables arbitrary code execution on the extender.
