CVE-2020-8818Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Payment hijacking via unverified IPN configuration overwrite

Published Feb 25, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Origin validation failure in CardGate Payments before 2.0.33 allows remote authenticated users to hijack payments through IPN callbacks. The cgp_sitesetup branch in Controller/Payment/Callback.php accepts an attacker-supplied token, pulls the attacker's CardGate configuration, and overwrites global merchant credentials without authenticating the callback's origin. A valid CardGate merchant account and a reachable store callback are required; altered keys permit forged paid-order status and redirect subsequent payments.
