Credential takeover via unrestricted brute force
Published May 4, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Authentication weakness in OKLOK 3.1.1 allows remote attackers to discover user credentials and obtain account access via brute force. The mobile companion app combines weak password requirements with inadequate throttling or restriction of repeated authentication attempts, allowing systematic guessing of credentials. Successful guessing grants access to the victim account; exploitation requires network reachability to the app's authentication service and produces confidentiality and integrity consequences.
