Stored XSS via executable SVG profile photo
Published Mar 2, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in Alfresco Enterprise before 5.2.7 and Community before 6.2.0 allows remote authenticated users to run scripts. The profile-photo upload accepts an SVG containing a SCRIPT element and serves that stored active content to another user's browser without neutralizing it. An account capable of changing its profile photo and a victim who views the crafted image are required; execution occurs in the Alfresco web origin and can expose or modify data available to that victim.
