CVE-2020-8644Known exploitationPublic exploitNetwork attack vector

Pre-authentication code execution via double-rendered username template

Published Feb 5, 2020 · Updated Oct 21, 2025

Server-side template injection in playSMS before 1.4.3 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary PHP code without authentication. The login flow embeds an attacker-supplied username in a TPL template, and src/Playsms/Tpl.php::_compile() processes the resulting template again, interpreting injected PHP. A reachable index.php login page is sufficient, and successful exploitation executes code with the web server process's privileges.
