CVE-2020-8581Network attack vector

Authenticated arbitrary data overwrite

Published Jan 19, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Unauthorized modification in NetApp ONTAP before 9.3P20 and 9.5 allows remote authenticated users to overwrite arbitrary data. NetApp has not published the affected function or the operation that mishandles vStorage requests, so the code-level overwrite mechanism remains undisclosed. Reachability requires authenticated access and the non-default VMware vStorage-over-NFS option on an SVM; exploitation alters stored data, with no reported disclosure or service interruption.
