CVE-2020-8573Network attack vector

Authenticated service interruption via default-password restoration

Published Jun 29, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Credential reset in NetApp HCI BMC upgrades allows remote authenticated users to interrupt H610C, H615C, and H610S nodes. The Element OS 11.8 and 12.0 and Compute Firmware Bundle 12.2.92 upgrade paths overwrite the configured BMC password with its documented default. Knowledge of that default permits management-network authentication and a node service interruption; NetApp does not identify the exact disruptive action.
