CVE-2020-8567Network attack vector

Arbitrary host file write via path traversal

Published Jan 21, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Path traversal in Kubernetes Secrets Store CSI Driver plugins allows remote authenticated users to write arbitrary files on cluster nodes. The Vault, Azure, and GCP providers accepted objectName, objectAlias, or fileName values containing .. and used them as output paths without confining the result to the intended mount directory. Vault Plugin before 0.0.6, Azure Plugin before 0.0.10, and GCP Plugin before 0.2.0 are affected; the attacker must be able to create a SecretProviderClass and trigger its use.
