CVE-2020-8488

Batch data tampering via weak IPC access controls

Published Apr 29, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Improper access control in ABB Ability System 800xA Batch Management allows local users to corrupt batch UI, comparison, and print data. Weak access controls on objects used for inter-process exchange let a crafted local application inject garbage or specially crafted data into Windows process communications. Authenticated access and permission to run the application on a system node are required; affected processes can crash or corrupt UI updates, comparisons, and printed output.
