CVE-2020-8485

Controller data tampering via weak IPC object permissions

Published Apr 29, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Improper access control in ABB 800xA for MOD 300 before 6.1.1 allows local users to read or write controllers or crash Windows processes. Weak access controls on objects used for same-machine IPC let a crafted local application inject garbage or structured data into exchanges between 800xA processes. An attacker must authenticate to a system node and execute the application locally; successful injection can corrupt runtime data or interrupt the node.
