Unauthenticated arbitrary file deletion via service DLL
Published Mar 18, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Arbitrary file deletion in Apex One 2019, OfficeScan XG, and Worry-Free Business Security 9.0 through 10.0 allows remote attackers to delete files. A vulnerable server service DLL performs the deletion with SYSTEM privileges, but Trend Micro has not disclosed the DLL name or how attacker-controlled input reaches its file-removal operation. No authentication is required, and the resulting SYSTEM-context deletion can remove operating-system or application files from the server.
