CVE-2020-8319Public exploit

SYSTEM code execution via unchecked plugin package path

Published Apr 14, 2020 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Privilege escalation in Lenovo System Interface Foundation before 1.1.19.3 allows local users to execute code as SYSTEM. The Install-PendingUpdates broker accepts an unchecked package name over user-accessible IPC, allowing path traversal to copy attacker-controlled update files into the privileged plugin tree. A low-privileged Windows session and the plugin update cycle are required for SYSTEM-level execution.
