CVE-2020-8180Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Server-side code execution via malformed chat commands

Published Jun 8, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Code injection in Nextcloud Talk 6.0.4, 7.0.2, and 8.0.7 allows remote authenticated users to execute server-side code. Talk's chat-command registration validation accepts a malformed administrator-supplied command instead of rejecting unsafe syntax before storage and invocation. Exploitation requires an administrator to add the crafted command and a user to invoke it, placing the host service's data and operation at risk.
