Unauthenticated hostname modification via unprotected setup endpoints
Published Apr 13, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Improper authentication in Ubiquiti UniFi Cloud Key Gen2 firmware 1.1.6 and earlier allows remote attackers to change the device hostname. The /api/ump/setup and /api/umc/setup endpoints accept a name parameter and apply it as the hostname without requiring authentication. Network reachability to the HTTPS management interface is sufficient, and the demonstrated impact is limited to unauthorized hostname modification.
