CVE-2020-8144

File write outside firmware directory via traversal

Published Apr 1, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Path traversal in Ubiquiti UniFi Video Controller 3.9.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to write files outside the firmware directory. Its Windows firmware-update handler uses an unvalidated version field containing ..\ sequences to build the download destination path. High-privileged access from an adjacent network is required, and successful exploitation writes downloaded content outside the intended directory tree.
