Remote command execution via unescaped flag injection
Published Jun 22, 2020 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Improper input validation in Bitdefender Total Security 2020 before 24.0.20.116 allows remote attackers to execute commands via a web page. Bitdefender's HTTPS error page preserves the remote site's origin and exposes session headers, while Safepay passes whitespace-bearing data URLs into a command line without escaping injected flags. Opening an attacker-controlled site in any browser is sufficient; injected commands run with the current user's privileges.
