CVE-2020-8101Public exploit

Root command execution via tcpdump filter parameter

Published Feb 2, 2021 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Command injection in ADT LifeShield DIY HD Video Doorbell 1.0.02R09 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to gain root access. The /adm/sniffer.cgi endpoint inserts the request's filter parameter into a system call that starts tcpdump, allowing shell syntax to invoke additional commands. Exploitation requires administrator credentials and same-network access; successful commands run as root on the doorbell.
