Service interruption via malformed scan sample
Published May 15, 2020 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Improper input validation in Bitdefender Engines before 7.84063 allows remote attackers to interrupt scanning with a crafted sample. The cevakrnl.rv0 module does not fully validate sample data before the engine processes it during scanning, triggering denial of service. Exploitation requires the crafted sample to reach an affected engine for scanning; published sources report no data access or modification.
