CVE-2020-8096

Code execution via untrusted DLL search path

Published Apr 7, 2020 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Untrusted Search Path in Bitdefender High Level Anti-Malware SDK before 3.0.1.204 allows local users to load third-party code via DLL search paths. The SDK resolves a DLL from an untrusted search-path location instead of constraining loading to a trusted library, so a planted library is executed when the SDK loads it. Exploitation requires local access and the vulnerable Windows SDK deployment; successful abuse provides code execution in the privileges of the integrating process, with no evidence of remote reachability.
