Account takeover via inline SVG scripts
Published May 18, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in Horde Groupware Webmail Edition before 5.2.22 allows remote authenticated users to access a victim's account via a crafted SVG URL. The services/images/view.php endpoint renders an uploaded SVG inline, allowing its embedded JavaScript to execute within Horde's browser origin. The attacker must store the SVG through an authenticated upload path and induce a logged-in victim to open its image URL; execution is limited to the victim's webmail session.
