CVE-2020-8031Network attack vector

Stored XSS via unescaped markdown rendering

Published Feb 11, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Stored XSS in OpenSUSE Open Build Service before 2.10.8 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through crafted markdown. The web frontend renders attacker-supplied markdown without properly escaping embedded JavaScript, so the payload persists and runs when the content is viewed. A low-privileged account must store the markdown and another user must view it, exposing that user's data and permitting actions in that session.
