Kubelet key disclosure via permissive file creation
Published Feb 11, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Incorrect key-file permissions in skuba for SUSE CaaS Platform 4.5 allow local users to read the kubelet private key during node setup. The upload path creates /var/lib/kubelet/pki/kubelet.key with mode 0644 before changing it to 0400, briefly exposing its contents to other accounts. Exploitation requires local access during node bootstrap or join; the bounded consequence is disclosure of the kubelet authentication key.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
