SQL injection via uncoerced bounding-box coordinates
Published Jan 25, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
SQL injection in Geocoder before 1.6.1 allows attackers to alter database queries through untrusted bounding-box coordinates. The within_bounding_box method in lib/geocoder/sql.rb interpolates sw_lat, sw_lng, ne_lat, and ne_lng directly into a SQL predicate without numeric coercion. Exploitation requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled coordinates into that method, permitting Boolean-based query manipulation against its database.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
