Code execution or crash via crafted map
Published Jan 27, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Memory corruption in rendersystemdx9.dll in Valve Dota 2 before 7.23f allows remote attackers to execute code or crash the client. The faulty address calculation reads through an attacker-influenced pointer; the reproducer causes an access violation, while controlled registers enable code execution. The victim must join an attacker-hosted server or custom game so the client automatically downloads and processes the malicious map.
