CVE-2020-7942Network attack vector

Cross-node catalog disclosure via mutable run facts

Published Feb 19, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Authorization bypass in Puppet and Puppet Agent 5.5.x before 5.5.19 and 6.x before 6.13.0 allows remote authenticated users to retrieve node catalogs. With strict_hostname_checking disabled, catalog compilation accepts mutable run facts during node matching and can select a catalog associated with a different node. A valid Puppet certificate and default-node fallback are required; successful exploitation discloses configuration data intended for another managed node.
