Unauthenticated content overwrite via missing PUT permission check
Published Jan 23, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Improper privilege management in Plone 4.3 through 5.2.1 allows remote attackers to overwrite content through HTTP PUT requests. The WebDAV PUT handling in plone.app.contenttypes accepts updates to existing content objects without enforcing their write permission. No authentication or user interaction is required, but exposure is limited to sites using plone.app.contenttypes, and the grounded consequence is unauthorized content modification.
