Browser script execution via unsanitized profile names
Published Jan 28, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in MyAccountPortlet in Liferay Portal CE 7.1.0 through 7.2.1 GA2 allows remote authenticated users to execute script. MyAccountPortlet stores script-bearing First Name, Middle Name, and Last Name values without neutralizing them, and user search results render those values as active page content. An attacker needs a modifiable, searchable account, and another user must view search results containing that account, which executes the payload in the viewer's browser context.
