CVE-2020-7880Network attack vector

Remote code execution via StartNeoRS parameter validation

Published Nov 30, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Improper input validation in the NeoRS RS10 ActiveX module allows remote attackers to download and execute files on Windows systems. The StartNeoRS function accepts attacker-controlled parameters without adequate validation and uses them to retrieve and launch a remote file. Exploitation requires user interaction, and the downloaded file runs with the affected user's privileges, enabling code execution and resulting compromise.
