CVE-2020-7846Network attack vector

File execution via hardcoded cryptographic key

Published Feb 24, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Code execution in CNESTY HelpCom*Base before 10.0 allows remote attackers to run a downloaded file through a crafted web page. The file-download path stores a fixed cryptographic key in the software instead of using a deployment-specific secret, enabling crafted content to pass the key-based protection. Exploitation requires a HelpCom client user to access the crafted page, after which the downloaded file is executed.
