Script execution via JQLite self-closing tag expansion

Published Jun 8, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Cross-site scripting in Google AngularJS before 1.8.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through crafted HTML. JQLite's jqLiteBuildFragment expands XHTML-style self-closing tags after sanitization, turning inert HTML into executable event-handler markup. Exploitation requires an application to sanitize attacker-controlled HTML, pass it to a vulnerable JQLite DOM method, and render the result in a user's browser.
