CVE-2020-7674Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Code execution via eval-based template interpolation

Published Jun 10, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Code injection in Andrew Templeton access-policy 3.1.0 and earlier allows attackers to execute arbitrary code through crafted policy templates. The template function in lib/encode.js rewrites interpolation markers and passes the resulting attacker-controlled template literal directly to eval. Exploitation requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled statements to encode with a truthy data object, after which code runs with the Node.js process privileges.
