Arbitrary file write via unsanitized archive paths
Published Jun 17, 2020 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Path traversal in github.com/unknwon/cae before 1.0.1 allows attackers to write files outside the extraction directory via crafted archives. ExtractTo joins archive entry names containing leading or embedded ".." components to the destination without first reducing them to safe relative paths. Exploitation requires a consuming application to process an attacker-controlled archive; resulting writes carry that application's filesystem permissions.
