Arbitrary file write via traversal in ExtractTo
Published Jun 17, 2020 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Path traversal in github.com/unknwon/cae/zip before 1.0.1 allows remote attackers to write files outside the extraction directory. ExtractTo joins archive entry names containing leading or embedded dot-dot components to the destination path without ensuring that the resolved path remains inside that directory. Exploitation requires an application to pass an attacker-controlled ZIP archive to the function; resulting writes carry the application's file-system permissions and can add or replace files.
