Arbitrary command execution via unsanitized package names
Published Apr 7, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Command injection in Manak npm-programmatic 0.0.12 and earlier allows attackers to execute arbitrary commands via crafted package names. The install and uninstall functions join package values into shell command strings and pass them to child_process.exec without validation. Exploitation requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled package input, and commands run with that application's privileges.
