CVE-2020-7597Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Remote command execution via unsanitized gcov-root

Published Feb 17, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

OS command injection in the codecov npm module before 3.6.5 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via gcov-root. The upload function in lib/codecov.js concatenates gcov-root into a find command passed to execSync without neutralizing shell metacharacters. Exploitation requires a calling application to pass attacker-controlled upload options, after which commands run with the CI process's privileges.
