CVE-2020-7586

Local service interruption via heap buffer overflow

Published Jun 10, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Heap-based buffer overflow in Siemens SIMATIC and SINAMICS software allows local users to interrupt service and access confidential data. The vulnerable project-file handler overruns a heap buffer, but Siemens has not disclosed the parser, file format, or unchecked operation. Exploitation requires local access and user privileges but no user interaction; affected software can lose availability and expose confidential information.
