CVE-2020-7585

Elevated code execution via project-file DLL hijacking

Published Jun 10, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

DLL hijacking in Siemens SIMATIC PCS 7, PDM, STEP 7, and SINAMICS STARTER allows local users to execute code with elevated privileges. When an affected application processes a manipulated project file, its uncontrolled DLL search path loads attacker-supplied code; Siemens has not disclosed the executable or library name. A user-level local session and access to a project file are required; no further user interaction is needed, and exploitation exposes confidential data and can interrupt the system.
