CVE-2020-7495

Unauthorized file writes via ZIP path traversal

Published Jun 16, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Path traversal in EcoStruxure Operator Terminal Expert 3.1 SP1 and earlier allows attackers to write outside its folder via a crafted file. Its ZIP extraction logic uses a user-supplied archive entry path in file operations without validating that the resolved destination remains inside the expected extraction directory. Opening the crafted project file is required, and the resulting write occurs with the privileges of the current process.
