Sensitive traffic disclosure via unencrypted controller communications
Published Apr 22, 2020 · Updated May 28, 2026
Cleartext transmission between Schneider Electric engineering software and Modicon controllers allows remote attackers to read sensitive traffic. The communication channel linking EcoStruxure Machine Expert or SoMachine with M218, M241, M251, or M258 controllers sends sensitive information without encryption; Schneider Electric has not identified the exposed fields or protocol messages. Exploitation requires network visibility into that software-to-controller traffic, and the reported impact is limited to disclosure.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
